GRI’s annual Impact Report tells the story of the global actions and priorities that are bringing its strategy and values to life

The 2025 Impact Report shows how, despite a challenging period globally for sustainability, GRI continued to strengthen the systems and support that help turn corporate transparency into action.

Across a range of work, GRI advanced a strategic purpose: to help organizations unlock value beyond reporting, with impact at the heart of the emerging global disclosure system.

Key examples in the 2025 report include:

  • New Climate Change and Energy Standards strengthened reporting on climate transition – including a just transition – backed by science-based targets and actions to drive down GHG emissions.
  • Biodiversity pilots and partnerships helped organizations to put GRI 101: Biodiversity 2024 into practice and connect nature-related impacts with risks and opportunities.
  • Education and implementation support expanded through new Academy courses, with 1,900 GRI Professionals Certifications, and Report Services delivered to users in 49 countries.
  • Regional programs put global standards to work locally, from agricultural value chains across Latin America, to deeper support for the textiles sector in South Asia, to SMEs throughout Africa and Southeast Asia.

A core thread across these activities was GRI’s close collaboration with standard setters, businesses, policymakers, and other stakeholders. These efforts have helped reduce duplication, respond to different information needs, and deepen the relevance and use of impact reporting.

In 2025, GRI continued to strengthen impact reporting on a global scale – through new standards, practical support for organizations, greater alignment with partners, and investment in digital reporting. As the reporting landscape becomes increasingly connected, our continuing role is to keep impact at the core and enable organizations to translate transparency into action.
