Stakeholder Council

The Stakeholder Council serves as a sounding board for the Supervisory Board, Management Board, and Global Sustainability Standards Board (‘GSSB’) regarding important key strategic issues facing GRI. Its purpose is to advise and provide recommendations on these issues to the Supervisory Board, Management Board, and GSSB.

A minimum of 15 members and up to a maximum of 30 members sit on the Stakeholder Council. The Stakeholder Council is composed on the basis of GRI’s multistakeholder nature with members allocated across the following stakeholder constituencies: Business Enterprises, Civil Society Organization, Investment Institutions, Labor, and Mediating Institutions. 

Its membership is diverse, and drawn from all United Nations-defined regions: East Asia and Pacific, Europe and Central Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, Middle East and North Africa, North America, South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa.

There are currently 17 members of the Stakeholder Council. The Chair is Louis Coppola and the Vice Chair is Adekemi Adisa.
